What is Make it Donate

What's Strava?

Strava is a popular app that lets you track your exercise. You can track activity like running, swimming, cycling and many others, record your sessions and compete with other people, check it out here.

What's IFTTT?

We connect everything together using IFTTT. It allows us to trigger donations from hundreds of services. An IFTTT account is created for you during setup if you don’t already have one. Don’t worry, it’s really good and useful for all sorts of other things too.

I Use Zwift, Can I Use Zwift?

Yes. That’s one of the things we’re doing ourselves when we’re stuck at home. Zwift connects to Strava so it all works really well. If you want to know more about Zwift, check it out over here.

What Do I Get?

What do you want, a medal? You can’t have one, that money will go to charity, but you will get a warm glow, not just from achieving a goal, but knowing you have genuinely helped make the word a better place.

You do however get one of our custom zoom backgrounds emailed to you  when you sign up that shows everyone what a great person you are, spreads the word and hopefully increases donations.

A reassuring NO. You set a monthly limit and your donation is capped at that. This is an absolute limit across all charities and campaigns. You can change it at any time.

It’s fully controllable, if you are feeling flush you can raise it or if you're skint lower it a bit.

We take payment for your donations on the 7th of every month. We do it monthly to reduce card transaction fees as much as possible. Note that if you sign up just before the 7th you can still donate up to your monthly limit before the 7th.

If your outstanding donations are very low we will roll them over to the next month. This is to avoid the situation where Stripe's 20p charge would become a big percentage of the donation.

Yes. We add a 4% fee on top of your donations, it’s the fairest way we can think of to pay for the running of the platform. It also means we don’t have to charge the charities. Our payment partner Stripe adds a fee of 1.4% plus 20p per transaction (that’s why we only process payments once a month).

Although are officially listed as a for-profit company, every penny of any profit we make we invest back into improving the service and shareholders don't get dividends.

It is enshrined in our Articles of Association (the legal document that defines how our company is run) that we exist for social good above profit.

We use Stripe for all card transactions. They are certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. In fact, your card details never touch our server.

No No No No No, well, not unless you want us to. You can opt-in to share your contact details with just the charities and to provide a Gift Aid declaration allowing them to claim the extra money from HMRC. We are also fully subject to GDPR law.

We would love you to be on the world's most innovative charity donation platform. It’s free to join, go here to see how.
